Daily Bread a wholly owned subsidiary of Britannia Industries Ltd, was founded in 2003. The mission of the company was to be India’s first world class nationwide bakery and confectionery brand, providing an international range and quality of bakery products to urban consumers and to be the supplier of choice to the institutional market.
The company started commercial operations in November 2003, the company manufactured a wide range of specialty breads for distribution in the supermarket chains, private label bakery products for other coffee chains and multiplexes also setting up its branded retail outlets in Bangalore. Daily Bread has proprietary recipes for over 400 bakery products including India’s widest range of breads, pastries and cakes.
In 2008, the company expanded its operations by franchising with a Master franchisee in Goa and Hyderabad in 2009. The company since then has expanded its operations with more franchisees being added in Bangalore.
Today the company has a strong brand name and retail strength of 34 stores of all formats in the Bangalore market and is the supplier of choice for institutional with all the major café chains and multiplex chains like KFC, Dominos, Café Coffee Day,Barista, PVR Cinemas, Fame Cinemas, and Fun Cinemas.
On the retail front, it has recently launched a range of further health breads, namely the Healthy Whole wheat with no added sugar, which is excellent for diabetics, Ragi Bread, which is a based from a hardy grain grown in Karnataka, and is excellent for strengthening the body as it contains amino and, the Omega 3 Bread, which is in collaboration with Tine, Norway. This very healthy bread contains marine extract (fish oil) which provides our bodies with essential poly unsaturated fatty acids which benefit the consumers by making our blood vessels smooth, stabilize heart rhythm, normalize high blood pressure, and lots more.
